Ponte degli Alpini

The Ponte Vecchio over the river Brenta at Bassano del Grappa in the Province of Vicenza, is constructed completely of wood, and is based on a 1569 design by Andrea Palladio, though there was a bridge here before, and the current one has been rebuilt a number of times, having been damaged or destroyed by wars and floods. Although this, with its magnificent setting, is just one of many, its history, and the adjacent museum of the Alpini regiment, make it rather special.
