The water staircase, leading up to the Casino in the gardens of the Villa Farnese, also known as Villa Caprarola, a mansion in the town of Caprarola in the province of Viterbo, Northern Lazio, Italy, approximately 50 kilometres north-west of Rome. The villa is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture, designed b y Vignola and built to the specifications of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, grandson of Pope Paul III, in the sixteenth century.
